Job summary

North Island Hospital in the Comox Valley seeks a full-time General Internal Medicine specialist. The ideal candidate will hold FRCPC certification or equivalent and be eligible for BC licensure.

The role includes inpatient GIM duties, telemetry/ICU coverage, and a commitment to outpatient general internal medicine. You will participate in teaching UBC medical students, family practice residents, and internal medicine residents, and engage in multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) certification or equivalent.
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient General Internal Medicine coverage including telemetry and ICU shifts.
• Participate in medicine call schedule with night call approximately 1:9 or 1:10.
• Engage in outpatient general internal medicine practice to support community needs.
• Interpret hospital ECGs, Holter monitors, and exercise stress tests as needed.
• Collaborate with hospital administration and colleagues on teaching medical students and residents; contribute to multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives.
