Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a General Helper to assist in food preparation, presentation and serving, ensuring quality and attractive presentation of meals.

The role requires supporting production and service workflows across stations, maintaining hygiene standards, and using approved recipes to ensure proper portions. Prior food service experience is a plus, with opportunities to learn and grow within a large hospitality organization.

Qualifications

  • Provide extensive, compassionate, and professional customer service at all times
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage workload
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting as required
  • Good command of English, verbal and written, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant, or fast food is an asset
  • Physical ability to carry out duties, minor heavy lifting up to 40 lb

Responsibilities

  • Dispense food for next day of production and plate individual meals
  • Operate in accordance with safety standards
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage
  • Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment

  • Work at various workstations including meal distribution area
  • Learn skid wrapping of finished product
  • Food preparation and cooking as needed

Job Summary

The General Helper will be responsible for preparing, presenting and serving meals, ensuring the quality of the food and overall presentation.

  • Dispense food for next day of production and plate individual meals.
  • Conduct work in accordance with safety standards.
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
  • Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
  • Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in various workstations including meal distribution area (packaging).
  • Willing to learn skid wrapping of finished product.
  • Food preparation and cooking as needed

The hourly wage rate for this position is $18.36. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
