Job summary

Aramark Canada is inviting enthusiastic individuals to join the Dalhousie Food Services team. You will deliver courteous customer service, handle cash, educate customers on menu items, and help maintain clean, safe dining environments across stations.

Experience in food service is an asset; WHMIS and Food Safe certifications are also valued. This union role offers benefits and opportunities to grow within a dynamic campus setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers.
• Light cash handling duties including processing customer transactions, balancing float, participating in audits.
• Educate customers on menu items, daily features, dining hall events.
• Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area.
• Food preparation in accordance with menu at assigned station.
• Stock and merchandise shelves, cereal and bread bar, salad bar, and coolers.
• May wash and sanitize dishes and utensils.
• Record temperatures, label products in accordance with FIFO, complete waste log and cleaning log.
• Adhere to all Aramark and Dalhousie University policies and procedures.
• May perform other job duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous food service experience is an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification is an asset
• Knowledge of and commitment to upholding high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Additional certification may be required by work location
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
