Island Health is seeking a qualified nurse to provide and evaluate nursing care for patients, following established policies and procedures. The role requires registration with the BC College of Nurses and certification in Basic Life Support, along with one year's recent related experience.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the general supervision of the Care Coordinator or the Patient Care Manager, the nurse assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients based on established policies, procedures, and standards.
Specialty unit nurse positions also require area-specific specialty certification for the unit. Emergency Room, ICU, and Critical Care Relief Pool positions require Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Critical care and specialty units (e.g., Emergency, ICU, O.R., P.A.R., Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Psychiatry) require two years of recent related experience.
