Island Health is seeking a dedicated nurse to provide high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards. The role involves assessing, planning, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients, ensuring safety and continuous improvement in care quality. Candidates must be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and have relevant experience, with specialty certifications required for certain units.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Under the general supervision of the Care Coordinator or the Patient Care Manager, the nurse assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards.
Specialty unit nurse positions also require area-specific specialty certification for the unit. Emergency Room, ICU, and Critical Care Relief Pool roles require Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Critical care and specialty units (e.g., Emergency, ICU, O.R., P.A.R., Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Psychiatry) require two years of recent related experience.
