General Counsel – Equity Partner

Location: Remote

Department: Legal Frontier Innovators

Reports To: CEO

Jurisdiction: Global (Strong preference for Canada/U.S. legal expertise)

• No upfront cash compensation.
• Equity (shares) and the possibility of future token-based rewards form the core of your compensation. These tokens are subject to legal approvals and currently hold no assigned financial value.
• Cash compensation will be introduced as we hit key revenue milestones.

Overview

We’re looking for a General Counsel who is both strategic and creative, someone who thinks like an architect and operates like a founder. You won’t just interpret the law—you’ll help write the rules for a new kind of global enterprise at the intersection of entertainment, technology, and IP.

You’ll lead Legal Frontier Innovators, Anime Universe’s internal legal powerhouse and future-facing global firm. You’ll shape the contracts, IP strategy, governance models, and compliance systems that support a network of companies destined to scale to 36 over the next decade.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serve as the chief legal architect for Anime Universe and its growing portfolio of companies.
• Build and lead a team of Deputy General Counsels across domains: Entertainment, Technology, IP, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Data Privacy, and beyond.
• Develop and own our legal frameworks—from incorporation to international expansion.
• Oversee IP protection, licensing, contract strategy, tokenomics, and employment law structures.
• Design scalable, adaptable legal systems aligned with future technologies and jurisdictions.
• Provide direct legal and strategic counsel to the CEO, executive leadership, and boards.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage high-level agreements, policies, and legal communications.
• Establish best practices for risk management, governance, and regulatory compliance.

What We’re Looking For

• 15+ years of legal experience, with deep expertise in Entertainment, IP, and Technology law.
• Proven track record in building legal infrastructure for high-growth, multi-entity organizations.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. law; international experience in Ireland, Japan, or Cayman is a big plus.
• Experience in blockchain, tokenomics, and forward-thinking legal frameworks is a major asset.
• Background in corporate governance, equity structures, and global business expansion.
