PVNCCDSB in Peterborough is seeking a General Carpenter for a long-term supply assignment. The 40-hour work week runs for approximately 6 weeks or until the employee being replaced returns, with duties in carpentry and general maintenance.

The role requires an OSSD and a General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification, plus the ability to read blueprints, operate tools, and work from ladders or scaffolds. A valid driver’s license is necessary.

• Shall know general building maintenance and provincial construction standards.
• Able to read blueprints and drawings.

• Experience using power and hand tools and related equipment.

Responsabilidades

• Construct, erect, install and repair walls, ceilings, flooring, portable structures and shelving.
• Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to shelving and cabinets.
• Carry out routine maintenance work.
• Estimate, requisition and purchase materials and equipment.
• Calculate elevations using transit.
• Maintain equipment and machinery.
• Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
• May perform custodial duties temporarily.
• Operate a motor vehicle as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Function:

Perform carpentry and general maintenance duties.

Job Description:

Perform the following duties:

• 1. Construct, erect, install and repair walls, ceilings, flooring, portables, playground equipment, shelving, etc.
• 2. Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to shelving, cabinets, etc.
• 3. Carry out general maintenance duties.
• 4. Estimate, requisition and/or purchase materials and equipment.
• 5. Calculate elevations by use of transit.
• 6. Maintain equipment and machinery.
• 7. Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
• 8. May be required to do custodial duties on a temporary basis.
• 9. Operate a motor vehicle.
• 10. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• 1. OSSD plus General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification.
• 2. Knowledge of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards andpertinent government regulations.
• 3. Working from ladders and scaffolds and in confined areas.
• 4. Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• 5. Valid driver’s license.
• 6. Using a variety of power and hand tools and machines.
• 7. Communicating effectively and working co-operatively with Board personnel, suppliers andthe general public.
