Job Description

The successful candidate will be a General Claims Adjuster working in a hybrid setup in Calgary, Alberta. They will evaluate large loss claims, focusing on property (commercial, transportation, and condo) claims through loss investigation, and will be responsible for negotiating settlements in accordance with provincial licensing requirements. The role also involves maintaining adequate production levels and fostering customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  1. Review and analyze experts’ reports
  2. Select and direct independent experts
  3. Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities
  4. Manage litigation disposition plans and budgets
  5. Record file activities and transactions accurately in Crawford and Company systems and client systems
  6. Maintain accurate expense accounts
  7. Collaborate with the manager to maintain client relations
  8. Liaise with all facets of the insurance community, including brokers, risk managers, legal counsel, and regulators

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of claims handling experience in large loss, commercial claims, transportation, and condo losses
  • Background in construction and property, with expertise in project management, quantification, and appraisal
  • Experience in commercial policy interpretation and market recommendations
  • Active adjuster license or working towards CIP and/or FCIP designation
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required
  • Regular travel to loss sites necessary
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with growth opportunities
