Job summary

IQ PARTNERS is seeking an experienced General Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, and month-end close in Toronto. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate financial records.

The successful candidate will maintain the general ledger, perform closing tasks, prepare statements and schedules, and assist with budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
• Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.

We are seeking an experienced General Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end close, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including payment processing, invoicing, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain prepaid expense, fixed asset, and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare applicable sales tax filings and support other reporting requirements.
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to requests from external accountants.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, financial controls, and reporting accuracy.
