Job summary

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and XLOOKUP.
• Familiar with AI-assisted tools for data analysis while ensuring accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end close and financial reporting.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
• Monitor AR/AP and support tax and regulatory filings.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Calculate, validate, reconcile, and process commission payments.
• Review commission calculations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare commission statements and maintain supporting documentation.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting and commission processes.
• Assist with special projects and other finance-related duties as needed.

Job description

The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, preparing financial reports and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policy. This role also owns commission payment processing: calculating, validating, and ensuring commissions are paid accurately, on time, and in line with contractual agreements.

Compensation: CAD $65,000–$75,000

What You'll Bring - Core Competencies:

• Accounting Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 3–5 years of accounting experience
• Commissions & Close: Experience with commissions/incentive compensation and month-end close
• Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS
• Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP
• AI & Tech Fluency: Comfortable using AI-assisted tools (e.g., reconciliation support, reporting, data analysis) to boost accuracy and efficiency, while knowing when a task needs hands-on review
• Analytical & Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Credentials: CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset
