Job summary

Albarrie Canada Limited, located in Barrie, Ontario, seeks an experienced finance professional to manage plant accounting, month-end close, and internal controls under the Director of Finance.

Responsibilities include GL reconciliation, intercompany accounting, payroll reconciliation, audits, and reporting to stakeholders; 5+ years of manufacturing accounting required; strong ERP/QuickBooks and Excel skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • 5+ years of plant accounting experience.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing and understanding of production processes.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions.
  • Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks, ERP systems and Excel formulations.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple business leaders within the organization.
  • Be a motivational leader and capable of driving improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

  • Manage amortization prepayment schedules and year-end adjustments.
  • Review payroll records and prepare journal entries.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and ERP templates.
  • Prepare service listings, payroll and expenses for reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits; present results to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Document accounting policies and collaborate with the Director of Finance.
  • Assist AR/AP as needed.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for a variety of accounting, analyzing and administering financial activities. The position summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statement and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documentation.

This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, review and reconcile GL's, bank accounts and inter-company transactions on a monthly basis. Investigate and action any discrepancies, as required.
  • Reconciliation of invoice/credit notes including; write off uncollectible amounts, minor overpayments, correct misapplied deposits and adjust currently errors.
  • Responsible of calculation and filing of WSIB and tax filing for specific provinces.
  • Responsible for amortization prepayment schedules, to ensure they are update, finalized and post adjustments after year end audit and review.
  • Review payroll records, reconcile to GL and prepare journal entries as required.
  • Manage and coordinate the GL account management process; maintain the chart of accounts, pseudo codes, transaction reason codes and update templates in the ERP system.
  • Prepare service job listing, payroll and expenses and investigate discrepancies for reporting purposes.
  • Participate and direct financial audits, but internal and external.
  • Prepare error free financial reports as requested and present results to stakeholders.
  • Support and coordinate month end and year end close process.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to document business processes and accounting policies.
  • Act as pack up to AR/APR, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • 5+ years of plant accounting experience.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing and the understanding of production processes and procedures.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions.
  • Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks, ERP systems and Excel formulations.
  • This position requires strong collaboration, and the ability to partner with multiple business leaders within the organization.
  • Be a motivational leader and be able to inspire a team in a constantly changing environment.
  • Be a change agent capable of identifying opportunities for improvement and driving improvement initiatives to fruition.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • The ability to multitask and balance several projects simultaneously on a national scope.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
