POSITION SUMMARY

Our Gearbox Repair Wind Technicians perform tasks such as gearbox inspections via borescope, damage assessments, and repairs, including intermediate and high-speed bearings & shafts. Candidates should have experience with gearbox inspection, repair, and reporting. The role requires climbing vertically at least 300 feet and maintaining relevant certifications. This position involves 100% travel.

Qualifications
  • Training in ZF, Winergy, or other GBX OEM inspection or repair
  • Vestas or other OEM LOTO certification or training
  • GWO certifications (BST, BTT, ART) preferred
  • At least 24 months of wind industry technical experience, especially in gearbox inspection and repair
  • Ability to meet customer and company standards, follow schedules, and adhere to QSE standards
  • Compliance with OSHA and company policies
  • Professional appearance and respectful conduct
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with proactive communication
  • Neat and accurate documentation skills
  • Ability to work in high-volume, multi-priority environments following instructions
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Pass background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

Technicians should expect to:

  • Support or lead gearbox repair activities (bearing & shaft replacement)
  • Prepare turbines for repair (LOTO, brake removal)
  • Perform LOTO activities
  • Inspect gearboxes with borescopes
  • Identify signs of internal damage
  • Understand gearbox design and components
  • Prepare repair reports
  • Climb turbines at least 300 feet, lifting equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Follow instructions for assembly, repair, and maintenance
  • Complete documentation accurately
  • Prioritize and escalate issues
  • Maintain tools and work areas
  • Operate vehicles safely
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work outdoors in varying temperatures
  • Maintain required certifications (OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED, etc.)
  • Maintain weight between 120 and 260 pounds for safety compliance
