Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Dangerous. Confined spaces. Noisy. Non-smoking. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment. Install and maintain meters and regulators and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter. Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment. Instruct apprentices. Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems. Supervise other workers. Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required. Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices. Test and replace defective equipment or components. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Gas Fitter Trade Certification. Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B. Security and safety: Bondable. Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads.
