Gas Station Manager – Shell Gas Bar, Convenience Store & Car Wash – Naachesneh Development Corporation – Economic Development Arm of Doig River First Nation

Location: Naache Commons, Fort St. John, BC

Position Summary

The Gas Station Manager will be responsible for the overall operation and profitability of the Shell gas bar, convenience store, and car wash at Naache Commons. This includes leadership of staff, financial oversight, customer service excellence, health and safety compliance, and operational alignment with Shell brand standards. The Manager will play a key role in building strong community relationships while upholding the values and mission of Doig River First Nation.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the gas bar, c-store, and car wash, ensuring compliance with Shell brand, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Manage fuel inventory, ordering, and reconciliation in coordination with Shell systems.
  • Maintain car wash systems and ensure timely servicing and reliability.
  • Implement store merchandising, pricing, and promotional activities.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and recognition to team members.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace policies, including respect for diversity and cultural inclusion.

Customer Service

  • Lead by example to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Promote a welcoming environment that reflects Doig River First Nation’s values.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Manage budgets, cash controls, payroll, and daily sales reporting.
  • Monitor KPIs including sales, expenses, and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and increase revenue.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all staff follow workplace safety, environmental protection, and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and Shell regulations.
  • Champion a safety-first culture in all operations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ management experience in gas station, retail, or hospitality operations.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of fuel systems, inventory management, and POS systems (experience with Shell systems is an asset).
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and operational targets.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
