Job summary

FortisBC is seeking a Customer Service Technician to ensure the safe and efficient operation of gas-burning equipment and infrastructure. You will play a vital role in protecting the public while delivering reliable energy services in Prince George, BC.

The role requires hands-on gas distribution knowledge, a Gas B Ticket or equivalent, strong safety discipline, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair field equipment. Overtime and standby duties may apply as part of the rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Must meet safety regulations and demonstrate safe work habits.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Ability to plan, organize, and manage field tasks with minimal supervision.
• Experience with gas distribution systems and related tools is advantageous.
• Welding and field maintenance tickets support job duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of gas equipment and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot gas burning equipment to identify safety issues and perform safe remedial actions.
• Install, test, and certify piping, metering, and gas pressure regulating equipment.
• Carry out maintenance programs and field service on residential/commercial gas equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and mitigate hazards in collaboration with authorities.
• Operate LNG vaporization equipment and field-measure gas parameters.
• Install house lines, vent lines, and related components in the distribution system.
• Support other operational teams with surveys and field work as needed.
