Job description

Join to apply for the Garage Door Technician Helper role at Overhead Door Corporation.

We have an immediate opening for a Garage Door Technician Helper located in the Saskatoon branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Helper will work as part of a two-person crew, assisting in the service and/or installation of residential or commercial doors while learning on the job from the Garage Door Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in installing various types of doors and security products
  • Ensure safety standards and promote a safety-minded work environment
  • Use hand tools, electric tools, lifts, and ladders safely and effectively
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with staff, clients, and safety personnel
  • Support Lead Technicians and learn the trade with the goal of progressing to a Lead Technician
  • Participate in training, including welding if required
  • Coordinate with the scheduler on job details and problem-solving
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing overhead doors
  • Participate in on-call service rotation if needed
  • Transport products safely to and from sites
  • Maintain safety training and certifications up to date
  • Wear PPE and adhere to safety protocols
  • Perform general warehouse duties and maintain punctuality
Qualifications:
  • Experience in service/installation industry; door automation experience is a plus
  • 3-6 months relevant trade experience (construction, welding, millwright, etc.)
  • Strong work ethic, teamwork, and safety awareness
  • Safety tickets such as WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid are assets
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Mechanical aptitude and resourcefulness
