Job description

Creative Door Services, North America’s largest overhead door dealer, operates nine branches across Western Canada with over 50 years of experience in the residential and commercial overhead door industry. We provide access solutions by servicing and installing a variety of overhead doors, driveway gate systems, operators, and associated controls.

Role :

We have an immediate opening for a Garage Door Installer Helper at our Vancouver branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the helper will work as part of a two-person crew, assisting in the service and/or installation of residential or commercial doors while learning on the job from the Garage Door Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position with opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities :

1. Focus on quality workmanship
2. Champion safety standards
3. Work with hand tools, electric tools, and ladders
4. Interact regularly with warehouse staff, project managers, customers, other trades, and safety personnel
5. Take direction from Garage Door Technician and provide support
6. Participate actively in learning the trade
7. Perform general warehouse duties
8. Other duties as assigned

Skills :

1. Resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
2. Comfortable with heights (ladders & lifts)
3. Knowledge of overhead doors, sectional, rolling steel, high-speed, or specialty doors is an asset
4. Willingness to learn and progress towards Garage Door Technician certification

Qualifications :

1. Minimum 3-6 months’ experience in a relevant trade (e.g., construction, welding, millwright)
2. Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
3. Relevant safety training and tickets are assets (WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.)
4. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
5. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold and heat
6. Pass pre-employment screening including drug, alcohol, and health assessments
7. Provide current Driver's Abstract at own cost if selected
