MID/SENIOR LEVEL CINEMATIC LIGHTING ARTIST

We are looking for a lighting artist with 3+ years experience to join our team working on off-stick moments and cutscenes. Ideal applicants show a comprehensive suite of lighting and technical skills, a growth mindset in response to feedback, and a passion for creating compelling visual imagery.

Terms:

  • 12-month contract
  • Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
  • Vancouver, BC

Responsibilities:

  • Craft compelling and performative lighting for cinematic cutscenes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to solve visual and technical problems.
  • Utilize existing level light and concept art to achieve art direction targets.
  • Create lighting that conveys emotional story beats and propels the games narrative.
  • Adapt to artistic or technical challenges and thrive in a dynamic production environment.
  • Communicate suggestions or concerns professionally with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Work with the level lighting team to create a seamless player experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong eye for the craft of lighting in games, VFX, or animated features.
  • Experience taking a shot from lighting blocking to final polish.
  • Knowledge of cinematography/photography concepts and terminology.
  • Ability to respond to feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 or comparable 3D authoring software.
  • Passion for storytelling through lighting.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proactive artist with a positive attitude.
  • Collaborative team player with solid time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
