Job summary

EA SPORTS is seeking a Gameplay Animation Specialist to join the FC Gameplay team in Vancouver, BC. You will help develop current and next generation animation using Motion Matching, ML, and in-engine techniques, collaborating with directors, designers, technical artists, and engineers to deliver high-quality experiences for players.

Responsibilities include curating and polishing motion capture data, aligning animation with design goals, supporting end-to-end pipeline from capture to in-game

About the Role

The role will support the FC Gameplay team in developing current and next generation gameplay animation, utilising Motion Matching, machine learning, and in-engine techniques. It involves collaborating with directors, designers, technical artists, and engineers to deliver high-quality animation with a sharp focus on the player experience. The team is part of EA SPORTS FC, which is redefining football with a genre-leading ecosystem of interactive experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the director to understand the vision for gameplay.
• Curate, edit, polish, and implement motion capture data into animation sets with a keen eye for quality.
• Collaborate with designers to ensure animation is aligned with design goals for animation features.
• Work with technical artists and animators to provide feedback on rigs, tools, and animation.
• Collaborate with the animation and engineering team to solve unique animation challenges.
• Work with leads and directors to support end-to-end pipeline ownership, from capturing motion capture and building animation data to final in-game implementation.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• A strong understanding of animation principles and anatomy, especially in relation to athletic movement.
• Proficiency in standard industry tools such as Autodesk Maya and MotionBuilder.
• High self-motivation and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
• A portfolio showing personal and professional artwork.
