Job description

Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? Can you see yourself assisting in radiological surveys and work activities? Our Chalk River location is looking for Group 2 Radiation Surveyors to provide Radiation Protection support to workers. If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!

What will you be doing!
  1. Performing daily contamination control tasks.
  2. Confirming radiological conditions throughout work.
  3. Completing job-minding for tasks within the scope of Group 2 Radiation Surveyor work.
  4. Executing the dress and undress of Personal Protective Equipment following a defined procedure.
  5. Assisting with and performing minor decontamination tasks within the scope of Group 2 Radiation Surveyor work.
  6. Completing function checks and source checks of Radiation Protection instruments.
  7. Completing contamination monitoring on active and non-active waste.
  8. Maintaining inventory of Radiation Protection supplies and Personal Protective Equipment, and submitting orders based on established area procedures.
  9. Successfully completing all required Radiation Protection training.
  10. Completing all other required training for the work area.
  11. Regularly completing bioassay requirements within the specified timeframes for each test.
  12. Escalating any moderate to complex issues as required.
  13. Assisting with training, coaching, and mentoring junior RP staff through the development of skills, by demonstrating techniques, and/or describing suitable methods.
  14. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • Successful completion of CNL's online aptitude assessment administered internally.
  • Experience
    • Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
    • Self-motivated worker who can work independently when required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to follow directions and guidance.
    • Adaptability to new work arrangements, including changes in location or tasks.
    • Understanding of the importance of procedural adherence.
    • Familiarity with radiation protection procedures.
    • Effective collaboration with all groups of personnel.
    • Responsibility to stop work if there is a safety or radiological concern.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), with a minimum of 3 years verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL conducts security screening as per government standards.
