Purpose
At Thermogenics Inc. a qualified Field Service Technician is responsible for performing start-up services, troubleshooting and repair activities on natural gas and light oil-fired industrial boilers in the field at customer sites located in Ottawa, Ontario.
Reporting to the Service Manager typical duties include performance test firing, electrical work, start-ups and service calls on boilers, feed-water systems, water softeners and air pollution control equipment.

General Knowledge & Equipment Skills- A safety first mindset.
- Communicates effectively with customers, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop and service employees.
- Familiarity using electrical and mechanical equipment for test and repair.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers.
- Ability to manage accurate and timely administration of labour and material expense reporting.
Major Duties & Responsibilities- Utilizes test equipment, meters, and their own mechanical abilities to fire boilers and related equipment to ensure proper operation prior to and during installation.
- Performs independent start-up of boilers and related equipment.
- Conducts field service calls to perform start-ups, troubleshooting, repair or other service related activities as needed.
- Performs basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers, auxiliary equipment.
- Communicates well to new and existing customers to determine the nature of boiler specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operation, and provide technical support.
- Completes required field service reports which document work performed, nature of problems, hours worked, etc.
- Develops and maintains good customer relationships. Looks for sales opportunities and equipment improvements. Represents and promotes Thermogenics in a professional manner.

- Other duties as assigned.
- Requires some overnight travel and overtime.
Qualifications and Experience:- *_OBT 1 oil license Preferred
- Level 1 gas license Required (will train the right G2)
- Experience on commercial/industrial burners such as those in asphalt plants, hospitals, process equipment. - Preferred
- Valid Ontario driver's license and have Canadian Citizenship - Required.
- A college diploma in a related field - an asset
- Experience in boiler manufacturing - an asset
- 3 years previous field service experience - an asset
- Bilingualism - an asset
Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:- The role is entitled to 4% vacation pay and paid statutory holidays.
- We expect to compensate the successful candidate at hourly rates consistent with market and based on experience.
- All Service Technicians are expected to be available for work Monday - Friday between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Weekly hours are not guaranteed but we do our very best to evenly distribute the work we have to the employees qualified to meet the needs of the job. Sometimes work occurs outside of regular hours and therefore evenings and weekends are part of the job.
