Role Overview

The High-Speed Interfaces Silicon Validation team is looking for a co‑op student to join our team to support the lab testing activities for our ultra‑high‑speed (100Gbps+) network communication devices. Be part of a fast moving, enthusiastic, and dynamic team made up of validation, application, system, and mixed signal design engineers. This is a unique opportunity to work in the lab to grow your hardware and software skills, work with the industry’s latest lab equipment, and contribute to the development of next‑generation technology.

As a co‑op student, you will be working in a team environment assisting in the characterization and validation of ultra‑high‑speed interfaces, referred to Serial – De‑serializer (SerDes) transceivers in System‑on‑Chip (SOC) designs for electrical and optical applications.

Responsibilities may include:

• Bleeding Edge Technology: You will be involved with the electrical and/or optical characterization activities of next generation products targeted for AI and data center applications
• State‑of‑the‑Art Lab: Work with the latest instrumentation and equipment available in industry to build complex test fixtures in a modern lab space
• Innovative Environment: Leverage analytical and creative thinking to develop robust tests solutions to meet evolving industry standards such as IEEE 802.3, OIF, and applicable multi‑standard agreements (MSA)
• Software & Automation Skills: Take charge in developing scripts and tools for device configuration, test routines, instrumentation control, and data collection

Minimum Qualifications

• Familiarity with Python and object‑oriented programming concepts; experience developing or maintaining software tools is a strong asset
• Experience using Git or other version control software is a plus
• Interest or experience in working with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, signal analyzers, VNAs, AWGs, VOAs, OSAs, and power meters
• No prior experience with SerDes is required but an interest in high‑speed interfaces is valued

Education Requirements

• In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
• For 16‑month internships: must be available May/June 2027 - August/September 2028
• Expected graduation date of November 2028 or later.
• 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, etc

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits

$54,600.00 - $103,350.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales‑incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
