Job summary

Folks VFX in Vancouver seeks a seasoned FX artist to create advanced simulations (fire, explosions, fluids) and deliver high-end effects across complex sequences. You will develop reusable Houdini templates and tools to streamline production.

Engage with Supervisors and global teams, contribute to pipeline improvements, and mentor peers while maintaining high-quality benchmarks across shots.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a professional VFX production environment with a strong focus on FX.
• Expert-level Houdini experience.
• Strong understanding of particle systems, destruction, volumetrics, and fluid simulations.
• Strong scripting skills in VEX, Python, and MEL.
• Advanced Maya knowledge.
• Experience working within fast-paced production environments.
• Experience leading sequences or small teams.
• Experience contributing to pipeline, R&D, or tool development initiatives.
