Who We Are

Vanderwell is an Alberta, family-owned company operating in northern Alberta for more than 80 years. We have modern sawmill, planer mill, and pellet mill facilities, which produce dimensional lumber, wood pellets, shavings, and chips for wholesale customers.

We’re a major employer in the local region, we have more than 160 employees working throughout the operation -- mill production, sales & shipping, woodlands, truck and mobile equipment shops, and administration. Contract and part-time employees are also employed in maintenance, transportation, and seasonal activities

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for individuals that are interested in the future opportunity of becoming Weekend Clean Up/Assistant Oiler employees for our manufacturing facilities in Mitsue Industrial Park. Job duties include:

  • Sweeps floors and clears debris from work areas, walkwaysand from around equipment
  • Cleans and sprays work areas with water prior to hotwork and participates in spark watch
  • Uses air wands to blow down dust and debris from hard to reach areas
  • Checks and lubricates machinery bearings as per provided schedule
  • Monitors oil levels in gear boxes and refills as required
  • Inspects grease lines to ensure grease is reaching bearings; services as required
  • Lubricates drive chains as per schedule
  • Empties garbage receptacles, cleans tools and parts shelves
  • Paints shop shelves, cabinets and steps as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to noise, dust, falling debris, moving machinery, weather extremes, splinters, slipping and tripping hazards
  • Lifting heavy, awkward objects and climbing on equipment is frequently required
  • Required use of PPE appropriate for the task and working conditions

Must have:

  • A solid work ethic, be eager to learn, and be a team player
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in a industrial or manufacturing setting in a safety sensitive role
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Mitsue Industrial Park
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Mill experience is an asset, but not required
  • Valid first aid certificate preferred
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including: day, nights, or week-ends
