Job summary

The Dufresne Group is seeking a Repair Technician for our Calgary Distribution Centre. You will inspect and repair furniture, including refinishing, upholstery, and wood/metal work, and travel regionally to support guests and teams across Calgary and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include documenting service reports, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety practices (WHMIS). A strong focus on customer service and physical ability to lift 50–100 pounds is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma with two years of hands-on furniture repair experience.
  • Experience with upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license with clean abstract.
  • Ability to lift 50–100 pounds and work in varying temperatures.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect furniture to determine repair needs and parts required.
  • Repair furniture including refinishing, upholstery, painting in a timely manner.
  • Provide in-home repair support to guests, listening to needs and questions.
  • Follow safety rules including WHMIS and maintain clean records.
  • Document service reports and manage inventory information.
  • Assist the Quality Control Coordinator with product issue tracking.
  • Keep the service vehicle organized and stocked; report mechanical issues.
  • Attend training on furniture service topics.
  • Inspect and validate repair parts.

Are you a pro at fixing and refinishing furniture? Are you ready to take on a role at our bustling distribution center and in our guest's homes? If so, we want you to join our team!

We are looking for a Repair Technician who is flexible and able to travel for overnight trips during the work week to support our operations throughout Calgary and surrounding areas, including Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer. This role requires regular regional travel and occasional overnight stays based on business needs. To support this travel, a company vehicle and gas card will be provided, ensuring you have the resources needed to safely and efficiently serve our teams and Guests across the region.

As the Furniture Service Technician you will have the opportunity to:

  • Inspect furniture to determine if it needs parts replaced or if it's repairable to top-notch condition.
  • Work your magic to restore damaged furniture to like-new conditions within a set timeframe, using proven techniques, including refinishing, re-upholstery, painting, etc. This includes wood, fabric, leather, and metal pieces.
  • Support guests with in-home repairs in a friendly and helpful way, listening to their needs and questions and responding quickly.
  • Understand and follow all safe work practices and rules, including WHMIS.
  • Document and complete service reports and paperwork, including inventory control information.
  • Support the Quality Control Coordinator in the completion of Product Issue Tracking (PIT)
  • Keep your service vehicle clean, organized, and stocked with repair materials, and communicate any issues (mechanical or otherwise) on the service vehicles.
  • Attend training on furniture service topics.
  • Inspect and validate the repair parts.

What we're looking for:

  • High School diploma with two years of hands-on experience in furniture repair, including upholstery, leather repairs, and wood refinishing. Experience with other materials and color matching is a plus!
  • Previous warehouse experience is an asset.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn in-house computer programs, including the in-house inventory management system.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Some exposure to working with solvents is an asset.
  • Good physical condition with ability to lift and carry objects of 50 – 100 pounds.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license with clean driver's abstract.
  • Able to conduct physical work in warm and cold conditions.
  • Ability to operates various equipment (dock levellers, hand trucks, cardboard baler and reach truck, etc.)
  • Comfortable with flexible schedule requirements, including evenings and weekends.
