Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for a Functional Analyst to join our team in Burnaby!

The Functional Analyst at EGBC plays a crucial role in enhancing off-the-shelf systems such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Office365 to support existing and improved business processes. They recommend and configure off-the-shelf solutions to meet the needs of EGBC and system users. This involves conducting thorough assessments of current systems, gathering and documenting business requirements, and collaborating with key personnel to ensure alignment with EGBC's goals. They analyze systems, identify areas for improvement, and develop plans to implement new configurations, installations, or updates of existing systems that can benefit the organization. The Functional Analyst also provides training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize new systems. By bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, the Functional Analyst ensures efficient and effective operations, ultimately driving business success and innovation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Administering interviews, workshops, and surveys with business users, managers, and other audiences to gather detailed business requirements.
  • Developing detailed process maps to visualize current workflows and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyzing existing off-the-shelf systems and business processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Preparing IS and system users for upcoming feature and functional changes.
  • Ensuring the compliance and security of solutions with relevant regulations such as FIPPA and incorporating robust security measures.
  • Designing technical specifications and system designs based on business requirements, including creating prototypes and mock-ups to visualize proposed solutions and gather feedback.
  • Collaborating with IS Infrastructure and Development teams to design system architecture supporting functional requirements and ensuring seamless data flow.
  • Overseeing and engaging in the implementation of new systems or updates, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Conducting quality assurance testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Creating detailed documentation, including user manuals, system specifications, and training materials.
  • Scripting for data extraction, transformation, analysis, automation of repetitive tasks, and integration of third-party software systems to enhance efficiency.
  • Training employees on new systems and processes through sessions and workshops, and developing training materials.
  • Collaborating with the Project Management Office to advance projects following project and change management best practices.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor or leadership team.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

The successful candidate will possess:

  • 5+ years of experience in detailing, documenting, and implementing technology solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications like PMI-PBA or CBAP are advantageous.
  • 3+ years of experience assisting clients with software application implementation.
  • 3+ years of project management experience, especially in software development, system implementation, or process improvement.
  • 3+ years of experience with software development life cycles, scripting, debugging, and data analysis.
  • Experience supporting help desk or software support roles.
