Job summary

Citigroup in Mississauga, Canada, seeks a senior applications developer to lead design and delivery of enterprise-grade application systems in coordination with the Technology team. You will guide development, integrate with architecture, and mentor mid-level engineers.

The role requires strong Java/Spring and React expertise, experience with databases (RDBMS and NoSQL), and a solid CI/CD and cloud toolkit in an Agile environment. Full-time, on-site in Canada.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant Apps Development or systems analysis experience.
• 5+ years in software development, with at least 3 years in a full-stack role.
• 5+ years strong proficiency in Java development, including Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
• Expert-level skills in ReactJS and core workflows (Flux/Redux) with component libraries.
• Experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and advanced SQL, design, and tuning.
• Hands-on with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) and data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Docker/Kubernetes.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile development environment.

This role is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
• Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a full-stack role.
• 5+ years and strong proficiency in Java development, including Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related ecosystem.
• Expert-level skills in ReactJS and its core principles, along with experience in popular React workflows (such as Flux or Redux) and component libraries.
• Demonstrable experience with RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL), including advanced SQL, schema design, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB), including data modeling and query optimization for these systems.
• Proven experience with CI/CD application delivery management, including tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an agile development environment.

Preferred skills:

• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts, frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), or practical application of AI in software solutions.
• Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito, Jest, React Testing Library).
• Experience with GraphQL.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
