POSITION OBJECTIVE

Professional Specialized Services (PSS) requires one (1) Full-Time Social Worker or one (1) Full-Time Psychotherapist.

This position will be based at the Hamilton location, but travel will be required throughout Niagara, Hamilton, Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk.

Promoting Bethesda's Vision, Mission, Values, and quality care, the Social Worker/Psychotherapist will provide counseling, intervention, and treatment to individuals who have experienced grief, trauma, social-emotional difficulties, victimization, abuse, interpersonal relationship difficulties, or post-traumatic stress through a holistic care approach.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct assessments, identify treatment goals/recommendations, and determine service hours independently.
  2. Provide short-term psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic therapy, client-centered therapy, cross-cultural counseling, trauma-informed care, and other modalities to individuals with mental health concerns, including those with complex and comorbid conditions.
  3. Provide clinical intake assessments to identify symptoms and inform individualized treatment plans.
  4. Present assessment results, clinical recommendations, and treatment reports to caregivers and community partners when appropriate.
  5. Monitor and evaluate clinical treatment plans, updating as necessary.
  6. Facilitate appropriate internal and community referrals.
  7. Collaborate with community partners and interdisciplinary team members.
  8. Provide brief clinical consultation and resource consultation services.
  9. Facilitate community connections, program registrations, referrals, and resource sharing.
  10. Develop curriculum and resources for individual and group treatment services.
  11. Write reports, programs, and service plans independently.
  12. Investigate ideas and plan the integration of engaging community activities into service options.
  13. Coordinate scheduling with the Manager of Adult Clinical Services.
  14. Develop and facilitate training for staff and community partners.
  15. Participate actively in administrative and team meetings, providing suggestions and recommendations.
  16. Collect and analyze data.
  17. Ensure compliance with Bethesda policies and health and safety procedures, reporting concerns immediately.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Counseling Psychology.
  • Registration as a Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario OR as a Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers.
  • Strong knowledge of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychopathology.
  • Experience providing psychotherapy to clients with diverse mental health concerns.
  • Knowledge of art and play-based therapies.
  • Experience creating and implementing treatment plans.
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health difficulties.
  • Ability to assess critical situations and respond effectively (e.g., suicide risk assessments).
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities and experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Teamwork, problem-solving, proactive attitude, and fluency in French are assets.
