Job Description:

Gakino'amaage: Teach For Canada is recruiting full-time K-12 classroom teachers for First Nations communities in northern Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Successful candidates will begin teaching in September 2025.

While Canada’s education system is successful overall, disparities persist, especially affecting First Nations communities. Our organization aims to recruit, prepare, and support dedicated teachers to bridge this educational gap and promote equity.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Education
  • Canadian Teacher Certification
  • Legal working status in Canada
Minimum Requirements:
  • Certification or eligibility to teach in a Canadian province or territory
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada for at least two years
  • Availability to attend the Summer Enrichment Program in July 2025
  • Willingness to relocate and teach full-time in a northern First Nation community
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in Special Education
Ideal Candidate:
  • Possesses a flexible, inclusive teaching approach adaptable to diverse student needs, including students below grade level or outside your subject area. Classroom support will be provided for two years.
  • Resilient with strong self-care strategies, capable of managing isolation and community integration challenges. Support networks, including peers and counseling, are available.
  • Collaborative spirit, willing to incorporate local knowledge and cultures. Preparation workshops on Indigenous histories and culturally responsive teaching will be provided.
