Job description

Position Title: Full-Time Facility Attendant (Arena)

RESPONSIBILITIES

·Provides excellent customer service and collaboration to all users of the athletic spaces

·Maintains ice surface including grooming, edging, flooding, and ice depth measurements.

·Performs routine maintenance of ice surfacing machine.

·Fills out all safety logbooks and completes all required paperwork daily as per industry standard.

·Liaise with external suppliers and contractors regarding arena and field supplies when needed.

·Assists in arena and sports complex housekeeping, including cleaning and mopping of dressing rooms, players’ benches, hallways, lobby and emptying of garbage containers.

·Completes set ups for all sport related activities, whether indoors or outdoors for both the school and external user groups which includes bleachers, tents, goal posts, softball backstops, tennis nets and screens, field layout and marking, basketball nets, soccer nets and other related equipment as required.

·Cuts/trims turf on sports fields (around nets and bleachers).

·Shovels snow from entrances located around the sports complex and snow dumping area as required. At times will assist grounds department with more extensive snow clearing at entrances around the campus.

·Opens and closes building at beginning/end of shift. Coordinates locker room assignments.

·Other duties as assigned;

QUALIFICATIONS

·Valid “G2” or higher driver’s license;

·Minimum completion of a secondary school education.

·Certificate in ice technology (Ex. Certified Ice Technician (CIT) accreditation through ORFA) would be an asset.

·Mechanical aptitude to learn how to safely operate ice resurfacing machine, golf cart, hand tools and other equipment;

·Great communication and interpersonal skills;

·Ability to use a computer with knowledge of Microsoft programs;

·Vulnerable sector police clearance must be obtained prior to start date.
