Job description

The Good Spirit School Division invites applications for a Temporary Full-Time Facilities Summer Student.

Location: Yorkton, Saskatchewan

Start & End dates: May 1st, 2025 to August 31, 2025.

Assignment/Contract: Temporary Full Time - 8 hours/day

Salary: In accordance with the Out of Scope Salary Grid

The Summer student assists the facilities department with maintaining the interior and exterior of school division buildings and their surrounding grounds.

Assignment and Term:

  • This position is a temporary full-time job consisting of 8 hours/day and will be in accordance with the 12-month employee calendar.
  • The position commences May 1st and expires August 31, 2025, with a work schedule of 7:00am to 3:30pm and a half-hour lunch. Rest periods will be scheduled in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement.

The duties of a Facilities Summer Student are to:

  • Operate assigned facility equipment under direct supervision of a qualified Facility Technician.
  • Perform routine maintenance jobs such as painting.
  • Complete heavy work as required.
  • Work at heights.
  • Move school-related furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure that security and safety measures are in place.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the desired qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in High School or Post-Secondary Education.
  • Acute attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to work as a team member.

Salary and Benefits:

  • The successful candidate will be paid on a monthly basis at an hourly rate of $15.00/hr plus $1.00 per year of service with GSSD.
  • Benefits include participation in the Saskatchewan School Board Association (SSBA) Employee Benefits Plan, the Municipal Employees' Pension Plan (MEPP), and opportunities to attend professional development seminars.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to the offer of employment.
