A municipal government in Ontario is seeking a Full-Time Driver and Operator Trainer to coordinate and implement training programs for municipal equipment operators. The role requires at least three years of training experience, strong computer skills, and a valid DZ driver's license. Under the direction ofthe Public Works Manager, the Driver and Operator Trainer will be responsiblefor the co-ordination, implementation and review of driver and operatortraining, testing, evaluating and certification on various pieces of equipmentutilized across all municipal services including: truck (DZ), vac-truck andheavy equipment operator training and testing; transit operator (CZ) trainingand testing; onboarding; and heavy truck and equipment safety programs forequipment used in municipal operations.
Developand deliver equipment training and licensing (as required) for all Public Worksvehicles & equipment as well as Transit / Para-Transit buses. Alongwith the training program, develop and administer testing and certificationcriteria.Workin co-operation with Supervisors in scheduling of staff and equipment fortraining.Activelyengage with accident reviews and investigations, provide employee driverassessments, and conduct spot checks and job observation reviews of newoperators.Promotea safe work environment and assist in conducting work place safety audits.Participateand support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to helpfoster a culture of operational excellence.Otherduties as assigned.
