Overview

Safeway Canmore is seeking a part time or full time Courtesy Clerk to join our Front End Department. The role includes packing groceries, returning merchandise, collecting hand baskets and shopping carts, wet cleanups and general sanitation and upkeep of the sales floor and restrooms. Training is provided and there are opportunities for progression. This position is unionized and subject to union dues; employee discounts and other benefits are offered. A Day In The Life Of a Courtesy Clerk

As a customer-facing role, checkout service should be fast, accurate and friendly. Courtesy Clerks bag groceries and assist with carrying groceries to customers’ cars. Training is provided; experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Uphold and comply with company procedures, standards and policies
• Greet customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrate superior customer service in line with Safeway programs
• Wrap and place merchandise in bags/carts
• Ensure cleanliness of the store’s front end
• Collect and return shopping carts
• Return store product as needed
• Provide grocery carry-outs for customers
• Sweep floors
• Perform price checks as required
