About the Role

Market Operations Technology addresses complex challenges in the financial industry to support our global business and customers. We emphasize Agile and DevOps principles for continuous delivery and improvement.

The Post trade Technology team manages back-office systems for Clearance, Settlement, and Custody functions across Fixed Income and Equities products for US markets. The team develops in-house systems and manages vendor-hosted SaaS solutions across multiple locations including New York, Toronto, Hyderabad, and Pune.

We seek a Java expert with experience in large-scale complex systems, ideally in finance, and familiarity with GCP to enhance our business solutions on the cloud. The role involves production support, automation improvements, and potential growth into a regional technical lead.

As our Full Stack Engineer, you will:

  • Serve as a senior member of the MSSOT US Post Trade Technology team, collaborating with regional teams in the USA and India.
  • Act as a technology expert and primary contact for application development activities.
  • Manage key technology stacks in equities and fixed income post-trade systems, ensuring successful development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Coordinate with local and onsite leads to prioritize and deliver enhancements, maintaining high performance.
  • Identify automation and efficiency opportunities, leveraging process and platform re-engineering.
  • Implement Agile and DevOps practices, utilizing automation tools throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Establish and execute SLA-based procedures for a 24/5 production cycle for all post-trade systems regionally.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement innovative solutions for Market Operations and Repo trading desks.
  • Ensure system reliability and cost-effectiveness for a wide user base.
  • Support Fixed Income and Equities Post Trade systems as needed.
  • Handle inquiries, out-of-hours releases, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Maintain infrastructure, perform upgrades, address security vulnerabilities, and manage capacity and disaster recovery.
  • Develop and maintain documentation accessible to team members.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and stakeholders, document activities, and oversee support teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in object-oriented programming and Java.
  • Design and implementation of scalable web services and REST APIs.
  • Strong Java Spring Boot skills.
  • Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or SQL Server, including complex SQL queries.
  • Exposure to data warehouses such as BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration.
  • Unix Shell scripting experience.
  • Experience migrating applications to the cloud.
  • Understanding of distributed microservices architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly.
  • Experience with ITIL fundamentals and methodology.

Preferred Skills (not mandatory):

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Knowledge of React / NodeJS.
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform.
  • Familiarity with RTC, JIRA, Confluence, Control-M.
  • Experience with Broadridge systems such as Impact and BPS/A.
  • Understanding investment bank front and back-office processes and regulatory controls like SOX.
