Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, IT Commercial Solutions, we are looking for a talented and motivated Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for designing, supporting, maintaining & developing front-end web applications and back-end database integrations including Shopify eCOMM Solution, websites and web-based user interfaces supporting automated processes. You will focus on designing and ensuring our systems are efficient, scalable, and user-friendly. Your responsibilities will also include providing support, recommending updates, and implementing optimizations based on feedback from stakeholders. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

As the Full Stack Developer you will be involved in:

  • Building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences and measurable business growth
  • Communicating & collaborating regularly with stakeholders, project managers, quality assurance teams, UI/UX design and marketing teams, and other developers regarding progress on long-term technology roadmap
  • Developing new features and infrastructure to support rapidly emerging business and project requirements
  • Ensuring customer-facing applications are highly available, observable, and resilient, adhering to software engineering best practices
  • Leading new projects from conceptualization to deployment
  • Ensuring application performance, uptime, and scale, and maintaining high standards for code quality and application design
  • Working with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices, and pursuing continued learning opportunities
  • Recommending system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchased alternatives
  • Executing and adhering to software development lifecycle best practices
  • Developing technical design documentation
  • Providing ongoing support for existing systems, troubleshooting issues, and recommending solutions
  • Participating in application auditing, user access reviews, and audit walkthrough meetings as part of IT General Controls and SOX compliance requirements

You would be the best fit for this role if you have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology
  • 7+ years of experience in designing and developing web applications
  • Experience in leading development teams
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience with Java, ReactJS, NodeJS, PHP, NoSQL database services such as DynamoDB and Cosmos DB, RESTful APIs, version control tools such as GitHub and Bit Bucket, and Shell Scripting
  • Experience working with Shopify Platform, including Liquid templates, ReactJS headless front-end, JavaScript, CSS, Shopify Ruby scripting, APIs, and custom private Shopify Apps
  • Experience working in AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, CloudFront, Route53) and Azure
  • Strong software development skills, including product design, development, testing, deployment, and long-term support
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization skills
  • Experience in unit, integration, regression, and performance testing

Bonus points if you have…

  • Ability to think strategically, problem solve, and make quick decisions
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
  • Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, AI Tools, or other project management and documentation software
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar incident management software
  • Understanding of incident response, incident management, and change management processes and best practices. ITIL certification is considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
  • Industry Experience: Working in the Cannabis industry or highly regulated industry would be considered an asset
  • Environment: Comfortable in a start-up “like” environment, must be willing to wear multiple hats, be flexible, and pitch in whenever and wherever needed to help get the job done. We love people who are excited to get involved where needed.
