Client is on a mission to make the world healthier and more mindful by providing peer-reviewed, agentic recommendations and resources through an intuitive mobile application. Client focuses on transforming complex wellness data into personalized, evidence-based insights that help individuals improve their health and well-being.
Role Summary
You will join a small, agile team as an external contributor for a 4-month term to build and deploy the MVP of a mobile application that integrates AI-driven, personalized wellness recommendations. Upon successful completion of the MVP, you may be considered for a full-time staff developer position, contributing long term to a fast-moving mission-driven product at the intersection of wellness and AI.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development of the mobile application using React/TypeScript and a modern backend-as-a-service or lightweight backend platform.
- Implement clean, intuitive mobile UI and user flows informed by designs and real user feedback.
- Build and integrate CRUD functionality and an AI agent service layer using standard third-party APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Google).
- Use cross-platform plugins for device features (camera, GPS, notifications, storage) without implementing custom native modules.
- Manage the mobile build and deployment process for both iOS and Android.
- Collaborate closely with the founding team to refine MVP scope, prototype quickly, and iterate rapidly.
- Write maintainable, well-documented code and contribute to lightweight engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience with React and TypeScript building production-quality applications.
- Experience shipping a mobile application using a cross-platform framework such as React Native, Expo, Capacitor, or similar.
- Ability to integrate mobile features using existing cross-platform plugins (camera, notifications, storage, GPS).
- No deep native iOS/Android development required.
- Familiarity with publishing apps to the App Store and Google Play, or willingness to learn the process quickly.
- Strong UI implementation skills and solid understanding of mobile-first product design.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative startup environment with a high degree of autonomy.
- Experience with backend-as-a-service platforms (e.g., Convex, Supabase, Firebase).
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to LLM-based or agentic systems.
- Exposure to state-of-the-art agentic libraries (e.g., LangChain, Google SDK, Swarm).
- Prior experience shipping a 01 MVP for an early-stage startup.
- Interest in wellness technology and user-centered product thinking.
Compensation / Benefits
- Initial engagement as an external contributor on a 4-month contract to deliver and deploy the MVP.
- Upon successful completion of the contract, eligibility to be considered for a full-time role as a staff developer.
- If converted to full time, potential eligibility for benefits, equity, and other perks (details to be defined at that stage).
