You’ll spend your time working across the stack with TypeScript, Node.js, Vue.js, Docker, and PostgreSQL, while also integrating applications with hardware sensors, PLCs, and real-time data systems. The role calls for someone who is comfortable switching between cloud infrastructure, API development, automated testing, and low-level hardware protocols. You’ll also make use of AI-assisted development tools and help foster a culture of automation, testing, and continuous improvement. The right person is eager to learn new skills, grow in their career, and take advantage of mentorship from senior developers. Experience with API-first design, cloud-native systems, ERP platforms, and industrial hardware will set you up for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build secure, scalable APIs and services using Node.js and TypeScript, following API-first principles
  • Build modern, performant frontends using Vue.js
  • Integrate with hardware sensors, PLCs, and edge computing systems (via protocols like Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, etc.)
  • Work with PostgreSQL for relational data modeling and performance optimization
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring
  • Use Docker, Buildpacks, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for deployment and scalability
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools to enhance productivity and code quality
  • Report to CTO and help build and manage platform-code

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1-3 years of full stack development
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, and Vue.js
  • Understanding of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cypress)
  • Familiarity with API-first design, including OpenAPI/Swagger
  • Exposure to hardware integration, including sensors, PLCs, or industrial protocols
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Practical use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, code completion, static analysis)
  • Experience debugging, documentation, and team collaboration skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience running Enterprise-grade Production workloads
  • Experience with real-time or edge data systems (e.g., Kafka, MQTT, OPC-UA)
  • Background in IoT, industrial automation, or SCADA systems
  • Working knowledge of serverless, Kubernetes, or low-latency systems
  • Familiarity with data privacy and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, PCI-DSS)

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Full benefits (health, dental, vision)
  • Opportunity to build mission-critical systems at the intersection of software and hardware
  • A fast-moving, collaborative environment with engineering-led decision-making

Location: Halifax, NS (On-site) • Job Type: Full-time • Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour • Expected hours: 30-40 per week
