Job description

Frog Lake Education Authority of Frog Lake First Nations, a Cree community in Northeastern Alberta, runs three schools accredited in the Province of Alberta. We are seeking a High School Science Teacher (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.) for Tustukeeskaws Jr / Sr High School to start on Monday, August 26, 2024.

The successful candidates will have:

  1. The ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, e.g., students, parents, administration
  2. Knowledge of the Alberta Education Act and the Alberta Program of Studies
  3. Understanding of local culture and traditions
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills
  5. Willingness to advocate and participate in outdoor activities
  6. Demonstrate healthy living by example

Successful applicants will possess:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Hold a valid Alberta Interim Professional Teaching Certificate or Alberta Permanent Professional Teaching Certificate
  • Knowledge and understanding of leveled literacy programs and shared reading
  • Knowledge of how to engage in relationships at the individual, familial, and community levels
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace
  • Excellent computer skills (considered an asset)
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

Wages to be determined by the Teachers Salary Grid.
