ROLE PURPOSE

This position will provide casework and support to residents of Connective’s programs to enhance their quality of life, ensure the safe operation of the facility, and maintain the goals of counselling and rehabilitative plans.

STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION

Unionized; this position requires union membership. Open to applicants of all genders.

HOURS (40 hours per week)

  • Sunday to Thursday, 0800 - 1600

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Program Manager or their designate
  • Participates as a team member to ensure service quality and continuity
  • Liaises with community, government agencies, and Connective staff as required
  • Accepts clinical direction from the care team
  • Participates as a staff team member

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Participates in assessment, goal setting, and program planning for residents
  • Evaluates client needs and develops short-term plans with resident and family input
  • Works with staff, community service providers, and organizations to develop support plans
  • Assists residents with daily living, social skills, and behavior management
  • Recognizes and manages emergency situations
  • Administers medication according to policy
  • Maintains health and safety standards
  • Oversees building safety and conducts routine checks
  • Reviews resident progress and adjusts programs as needed
  • Transports clients to activities and appointments
  • Prepares reports on client activities and progress
  • Identifies community services to meet client needs
  • Monitors facility operations and participates in meal planning and preparation
  • Participates in team meetings and performs other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field and at least one year of experience
  • Experience with clients with conflict history, disabilities, homelessness, or mental health challenges
  • Experience working with First Nation communities
  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
  • Understanding of services for people with different learning abilities
  • Ability to manage potential violence
  • Excellent communication skills in English

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Records Check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate (Level 1)

COMPENSATION

Starting wage is $25.95/hour, increasing with hours worked up to $29.76/hour.
