Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Frozen Fruit QA Coordinator for our Ontario facility, which processes food product for our sister company, Silver Valley Farms. An ideal candidate is self-motivated, reliable and responsible with QA education and experience, as well as experience in soft fruit processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation and enforcement of quality, Food Safety and bio-security polices and procedures;
  • Inspection of incoming fruit product for quality and bio-security compliance and identify and report quality and food safety deficiencies;
  • Maintain financial and operational records and inventory of supplies;
  • Perform pre-operational inspection of equipment and participate in the operation of equipment and training of packing, sorting and packaging of fruit product ;
  • Coordinate, assign and supervise the work of fruit packing and sorting equipment operators;
  • assist in food safety program creation and Monitor and enforce procedures;
  • Coordinate the maintenance of equipment and supplies, and coordinate with Silver Valley Farms (sister company) to facilitate provision of fruit product;
  • Work with Quality Manager and Production Supervisor to develop and maintain work schedules, procedures and the Food Safety Management System;
  • Ensure food safety, quality and bio-security policies and procedures are followed
  • Coordinate, maintain and manage QA and daily production records and report quality issues to production supervisor or operations as required;
  • Communicate on behalf of management with lab for supplies, services and record keeping;
  • Daily review and reporting on HACCP prerequisite and CCP documentation; and
  • Assist as needed in new product launches, plant trials, shelf-life studies, inspections and audits.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in QA, food sciences or related field;
  • 1-2 years quality assurance/ quality control experience in soft fruit for export industry;
  • Excellent problem solving, clerical, leadership and communication skills good verbal and written communication (English);
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or walk for several hours each day.
