Join a locally owned and operated store to help deliver health, beauty, and convenience services in your community, keeping the customer at the centre of everything you do.

Why this role is important?

This is a training position for selected spots in Newfoundland.

SUMMARY:

The Front Store Manager (FSM) is responsible for managing the overall performance of the Front Store, which includes all areas of the store except the Pharmacy, such as cosmetics. The FSM leads staff in providing excellent customer service, manages processes and procedures using financial resources, and ensures store objectives are met.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

OPERATIONS:

  • Maintain store standards to optimize customer experience, increase traffic, and enhance profitability.
  • Work with the management team to ensure store standards are consistently met, including in the backroom.
  • Manage labour scheduling and utilize Workforce Management (WFM) to maximize productivity.
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate for effective store operation.

HUMAN RESOURCES:

  • Comply with HR standards.
  • Support hiring for all departments except Pharmacy.
  • Maintain wage administration within guidelines.
  • Conduct probationary and annual performance reviews.
  • Manage staff performance through coaching, action planning, and follow-up.
  • Promote Blue Culture, engagement, and motivate staff through core values.

FINANCE:

  • Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and address discrepancies using FSM Monitoring Reports.
  • Meet financial targets periodically, quarterly, and annually.
  • Set departmental goals to motivate staff and ensure achievement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve store efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong planning, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with inventory management planning and preparation.
  • Ability to control expenses through sound judgment.
  • Effective leadership, mentorship, and staff development skills.
  • Efficient time management and prioritization skills.
  • Organizational and planning abilities.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years retail management experience.
  • Proven ability to drive business, lead by example, and support corporate programs.
  • Effective collaboration with management teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
