Why this role is important?

SUMMARY:

The Front Store Manager (FSM) is responsible for managing the overall Front Store’s performance. The Front Store includes all areas of the store, including cosmetics, excluding Pharmacy. The Front Store Manager leads staff in providing excellent Front Store customer service, manages all processes and procedures utilizing financial resources, and ensures store objectives are achieved.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

OPERATIONS:

  1. Maintains Store Standards to optimize customer experience, drive customer traffic, and positively impact store profitability.
  2. Works with Management Team to ensure Store Standards are in effect 100% of the time, including the backroom.
  3. Manages labour scheduling and leverages Work Force Management (WFM) to maximize labour productivity.
  4. Ensures staffing levels are adequate to effectively operate the business.

HUMAN RESOURCES:

  1. Complies with Human Resources Standards.
  2. Hires and/or supports hiring for all departments, excluding Pharmacy.
  3. Maintains wage administration within SLPH guidelines.
  4. Conducts probationary reviews for new hires and annual staff performance reviews.
  5. Manages staff performance through ongoing coaching, action planning, and follow-up.
  6. Drives Blue Culture, engagement, and leads and motivates staff through leading by our Core Values.

FINANCE:

  1. Analyzes financial reports, identifies trends and addresses discrepancies between planned and actual through effective utilization of the FSM Monitoring Report.
  2. Meets period, quarterly and annual targets.
  3. Sets individual goals for departments to motivate employees and ensures goals are met.
  4. Develops and executes strategies to improve business efficiency at the store.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Planning, Judgement and Decision Making.
  2. Planning and preparation for Inventory Management.
  3. Use judgment and decision-making skills to control expenses.
  4. Provides effective leadership and ongoing mentorship and ensures development of all staff.
  5. Efficient time management skills.
  6. Able to prioritize activities quickly in response to changing initiatives.
  7. Effective organization and planning skills.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Previous retail management experience for a minimum of 5 years.
  2. Demonstrated ability to drive the business, lead by example and support corporate programs.
  3. Works effectively with the management team.
  4. Superior interpersonal, coaching and communication skills.
  5. Strong business and financial acumen.
  6. Strong relationship builder with key internal and external agencies.
