Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical adjustments, maintenance, installation and modification of manufacturing equipment.
• Keep lines flowing; perform quality checks and minor adjustments to conveyors and equipment.
• Recordkeeping of quality checks and equipment status; communicate issues to supervisors.
• Follow standard operating procedures and work as a team to meet production goals.

Job Description

Starting rate: $33.50

We currently have an opening for a Front End Operator at our manufacturing facility located in the Foothills Industrial Park in South East Calgary. This facility manufactures aluminum cans for the beverage industry. This position will perform a variety of mechanical adjustments, maintenance, repairs, installation, and modification of manufacturing equipment for the production and manufacture of aluminum cans of the highest quality.

Other responsibilities

• Safety & Quality minded with willingness for excellence required in all aspects of the job
• Responsible for the operation of one or more automated machines or equipment for the production of aluminum cans
• Must keep lines flowing, make continuous quality checks, & minor adjustments to conveyor belts and various factory equipment
• Accurate and continuous quality checks and recordkeeping required
• Understand and follow verbal instructions for completion of assigned tasks
• Keeps Production Supervisors/Managers informed of operational status of equipment and production issues
• Follows standard operating procedures
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
• Performs other related duties as required
• Keeps work area safe, clean, and organized

Job Requirements

Formal education/training or on the job training working on mechanical components such as pumps, conveying, motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys etc. is a definite asset.

• 3+ years of production experience as well as knowledge of production equipment and mechanical operations in a manufacturing environment
• Valid forklift license
• Able to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time
• Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Knowledge and work history of focusing on quality and safety in every aspect of the job
• Mechanically inclined
• Understanding of line continuity
• Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts, rotating day and night shift on a 4 on – 4 off schedule
• Must have impeccable time and attendance
• Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Must have attention to detail
