Sobeys Inc. in Calgary is seeking a friendly, reliable Clerk to deliver outstanding customer service at the checkout and ensure a clean, attractive workspace. You will enter and scan items, handle payments, balance the till and help customers with their needs.

Responsibilities

• Enter and scan items for customers.
• Ensure prices are accurate and process transactions.
• Handle cash, debit, cheques and deposits per policies.
• Balance the cash register at shift end.
• Meet productivity standards (sales/hour).
• Provide exceptional customer service and assist shoppers.
• Bag items and maintain clean, organized work area.
• Operate equipment safely and follow food safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as needed

The clerk is required to deliver exceptional customer service at all times, ensuring that their workspace is attractive and in good condition at all times.

Here’s Where You Will Be Focusing

• Enter and/or scan the item(s) selected by the customer.
• Ensure entered/scanned prices are accurate, and cancel transactions according to established standards.
• Handle cash and other payment methods (debit cards, cheques, etc.) and make deposits according to established policies.
• Balance the cash register.
• Meet productivity standards (sales/hour, entries/minute).
• Provide exceptional and attentive customer service.
• Bag items according to established standards.
• Keep work areas and uniform clean and well-maintained.
• Use equipment and supplies in a safe and efficient manner.
• Comply with established food safety and hygiene standards.
• Perform any other related duties.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma is a valuable asset.
• Knowledge of the cash register system is a major asset.
• You are customer service-oriented.

• You are available to work various shifts during business hours.
• You stand out for your interpersonal skills, energy and ability to work under pressure.
