Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is seeking friendly individuals for All Purpose Clerk roles at Safeway banners across Canada. Full training is provided and no previous experience is required.

You will greet customers, process transactions, stock and merchandise, maintain cleanliness, and support store operations. Evening and weekend availability are encouraged to meet scheduling needs.

Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
• Process cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, gift card and debit
• Wrap and place merchandise in bags / carts
• Maintain cleanliness of check stands
• Stocking product to shelves such as Dairy, Frozen, perishable (produce) and non-perishables
• Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
• Rotation of product
• Loading and unloading of product for the sales floor
• Backroom and inventory management
• Any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Physical Requirements

• Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
• Constant reaching, gripping
• Constant computer and point of sale system use
• Frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing or pulling
• Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 20-50 pounds including waist level and low level lifts
• Occasional crouching, kneeling, squatting
