Job description

Position Summary: To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.

What you'll do:
  1. Drive profitable sales: As a member of the Store Management Team, achieve sales and profit goals, manage budgets, and analyze sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
  2. Operational planning and execution: Collaborate with the Management Team to create operational plans, prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate pricing, and adherence to store standards and policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
  3. Asset protection and safety: Monitor and execute asset protection and safety controls, maintain quality assurance standards, oversee safety and operational reviews, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including safety, security, and financial controls.
  4. Customer service: Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service techniques among staff.
  5. Community engagement: Support store initiatives in serving the community by participating in events, developing relationships with community groups, and supporting sustainability efforts.
  6. Team leadership and development: Conduct regular store meetings, communicate operational initiatives, drive engagement, recognize accomplishments, and provide professional development opportunities. Identify high-potential associates and support their growth.
  7. Performance management: Hold associates accountable through timely feedback, performance reviews, and corrective actions. Build relationships with supporting functions such as HR.
  8. Compliance and merchandise handling: Ensure all merchandise, including sensitive items like alcohol and high-ticket items, are handled according to standards. Manage cash controls and handle daily cash transactions up to $250,000.
