A community support organization in Vancouver is seeking a Front Desk Worker to ensure the safety and security of its premises. Opportunity:
Central City Housing Society manages two SRO buildings in Vancouver’s downtown eastside (Abbott Mansion & Cosmopolitan Hotel) with a total capacity of 112 units. Positions are available for day, evening, and overnight shifts.
Primary Purpose:
The Front Desk Worker’s primary role is to ensure the safety and security of the premises and its residents. Responsibilities include monitoring the front office, building security (including cameras and access control), maintaining logbooks, supporting residents’ well-being, tracking guests, and creating a safe, welcoming environment. This role requires readiness, responsiveness, and a proactive approach to challenges.

Requirements:
Understanding of the DTES community, anti-oppression work, intersectionality, and colonial legacy is essential. Commitment to working with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges is critical, gained through lived experience or relevant training. Effective communication skills, calmness, non-judgmental attitude, and flexibility for evening, weekend, and on-call hours are required.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants and individuals from other equity-seeking groups to promote diversity and inclusion.

Wage: $21.00/hour plus benefits (+$0.75 evenings, +$1.25 overnight)
