Typical compensation is $33.37 per hour (Level 2) with shift differential; Level 1 training pays $30.23/hr until qualifications are met. Shift is Mon-Fri, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with cross-coverage as needed.

  • Lead sanitation activities for product changeovers and relief leadership when needed.
  • Support waste room, cart cleaning, and sanitation tool programs.

Overview

The Sanitation Technician is a key contributor to producing the highest quality products at the Lethbridge Manufacturing Facility. This role is responsible for helping balance our four imperatives: People, Quality, Service, and Cost through the execution of sanitation, food safety, and housekeeping programs. The Sanitation Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and audit-ready manufacturing environment while supporting production efficiency and product quality.

Compensation

$33.37 per hour (Level 2) + applicable shift differential. Successful candidates may begin at Level 1 training rates ($30.23/hr) until Level 2 qualifications are achieved.

Shift

Monday to Friday, Afternoon Shift (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) Candidates must be willing to flex shifts as required to support operational and sanitation coverage needs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform sanitation activities to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Execute cleaning and sanitation procedures during production shutdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and complete assigned sanitation tasks.
  • Address audit findings and support corrective actions arising from third-party audits, self-inspections, and sanitation assessments.
  • Demonstrate expertise in WHMIS requirements and safe chemical handling practices.
  • Promote and communicate GMP, Food Safety, and sanitation standards to employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Support and coach team members on sanitation, housekeeping, and food safety best practices.
  • Lead and support sanitation activities associated with product changeovers.
  • Assist with developing and implementing sanitation and changeover best practices.
  • Perform fryer boil-outs and support micro-testing activities.
  • Provide relief coverage for sanitation leadership functions when required.
  • Support waste room cleaning, cart cleaning programs, and sanitation tool cleaning activities.
  • Perform janitorial coverage and sanitation support duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong commitment to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to motivate self and others to achieve results.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous experience in Food Safety, AIB, Health and Safety, forklift operation, or sanitation is considered an asset.
  • Scissor Lift and Working at Heights certifications are considered assets; forklift certification is an asset.
  • Good employment history demonstrated through attendance and performance records.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, and varying production conditions.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and cleaning activities throughout the shift.
  • Ability to complete all required Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and GMP training and adhere to site policies and procedures.
