Job description

Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing East Coast family company, with Platinum Member status in Canada's Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company's Freshwater Maintenance team for our New Brunswick hatchery facilities.

The Role

Positions offer full-time, year-round employment.

Primary duties include:

• Responsible for maintenance checks of the entire site as needed (daily, weekly, monthly)

• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair on equipment.

• Troubleshoot problems and provide recommendations for problem resolution.

• Assist hatchery techs and managers with fish handling equipment.

• Occasionally assist with Maintenance at other hatcheries

• Ability to operate and troubleshoot the effluent system.

• Respond to emergency maintenance repair requests as required - including weekends and evenings.

• Follow proper bio-security procedures and other company policies.

• Manage inventory of consumables and replacement parts.

• Arrange external contractors as needed.

• Liaise with other project and maintenance groups as appropriate.

• Develop SOPs for new equipment maintenance.

• Obtain quotes from vendors as needed.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player who possesses excellent problem-solving skills with a strong mechanical aptitude and basic carpentry skills. Periodic travel to interprovincial freshwater facilities and the ability to be on-call is a requirement. Preference will be given to applicants who have a background in and understanding of preventative maintenance and inventory monitoring.
