Job summary

Job description

French Teacher/Tutor Wanted

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic French speaker to join our team at Oxford Learning Rosedale as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach. Ignite your passion for helping students succeed – en français!

Position Overview

We teach students HOW to learn French. Students improve their academic and study skills in a small‑group setting with a maximum of three students per teacher. The curriculum and lessons are provided; teachers do not need to lesson plan. Teachers guide students through the material, helping them speak and understand French.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
  • Teach in person during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm‑8:00 pm) as well as some Saturday sessions (9:00 am‑2:00 pm).
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in spoken and written French and English.
  • Experience teaching/tutoring French at Grades 3–12 (or equivalent).
  • Ability to explain concepts in French and guide student understanding.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and balance three students simultaneously.
  • Commitment to work until the end of the term in June; continuing through the summer is preferable.
  • Vulnerable sector screening required.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 3‑12 French core curriculum.
Compensation & Schedule

Employment type: Part‑time

Schedule: Evenings, Monday to Friday; Saturday availability.

Salary: $17.20 – $20.00 per hour.

Location & Logistics

This role is in‑person. Candidates must be able to commute to 44 St Clair Ave., 2nd Floor, Rosedale, ON. Relocation packages are not available.
